I sold this '74 with the white '71 Grabber I got back a couple months ago. Now it's back again. While it looks like crap in the pics it's actually pretty straight & solid. It's a 200/auto(pulled from the '71 Grabber-this car's engine was locked up when I sold 'em). They drove it about 50 miles after the swap and it sat for a while. Now it won't do anything. When this weather lets up I'm gonna check the grounds, solenoid, and fusible link(and hope it's that simple and that no critters got up in the dash). During it's extended "vacation" it acquired a few extras; a new windshield seal, new carb, new wheel cylinders/brake shoes on the front and a trunk littered with some headlight bezels, wiring, etc.. With pretty good floors & quarters, this one could be a builder...:dancing:

Hell it looks solid to me and very colourful and you can't beat the fact that you sent it out and got it back with new parts.(y)[IMG]

At least this Maverick didn't go to the bone yard.

I've got a set on another car, plus I may do a small bumper conversion anyway. Thanks though.:)

Well, I got it to start up, runs good and drove out the road & back. Let it sit & run for about 15-20 minutes in the yard(got some old gas in it, but still ran ok). Then I shut it off for about 30 minutes. Tried to start it back up and...nothing. Well, the idiot lights in the dash come on when you turn the key but nothing under the hood. No clicks, buzzing, nothing. I though maybe the neutral safety switch may be bad or the linkage was out of whack, but moving the shifter around does nothing for it. I'm thinking either the solenoid is bad or the starter is getting weak. Tried to jump it over on the solenoid with some pliers, it just sparked. Any thoughts?

Starter switch? I had that problem. It was a $17 part @ Shucks...

Sounds like the starter bit the dust. Mine did that, had just started it, went dead, tried it again, nothing. Sparked at the solenoid like yours. Another starter fixed it!

Heat soaked starter or a bad connection?

my 74 i had back in 79 was missing a couple teeth on the flywheel.i burned up 3 starters over a period of time and got the warrentee replacement on each one till the manager of the car shop got tired of seeing me and replacing them.i went to one more car shop and pulled the same stunt then finally put a new flywheel in the car.needless to say i got good at changing the starter on my maverick
