One of the pins broke and now the sun visor likes to swing into my head when I accelerate. Arizona sun and heat baked the plastic. Does anyone make metal replacements for these? I looked at Melvins catalog and they have the rubber tips but not the whole pin.

You will need to pull out the remains of the old one in order to get the new one in.

Whats the best way to do that? Can I pull it off the rod and push it out from the other side?

Take a long screw and thread it in a ways on the broken off rod. There should be a hole in it. Once you have it threaded in...pull and twist with a set of pliers.

Were these pins ever metal, or were they all plastic?

I swapped mine a long time ago and they are metal. I don't recall if they came out of another Mav or some other model of Ford car, but yes, there are metal ones that will work in these visors. They are just stubs that insert a few inches into one side..

They were metal on 1970 Mavericks I know.
