Ok on my new alternator here is how I hooked it up, I hope that it's right. Black wire with ring BAT Wire with red cup FLD wire with black cup SAT
Please guys I need this information soon. I finished installing the alternator but my car still runs out of power and eventually dies, i don't think it's the battery since it charges pretty good in my Integra, so aparently the alternator isn't recharging the battery.
You don't have a wire hooked to the groung terminal and in your previous post you said you had a ground terminal on the old alternator...nothing should be hooked to the STA terminal if you didn't have it on your old alternator.
Here is what it looked like from the original alternator. Can you help me figure out how the alternator should be wired now?
to me it looks like it's wired correctly. Is this any way to make sure that my alternator is charging my battery? In my Integra the battery charged fine, but seemed a tad weaker than the Integra's battery, but in the Maverick it seems to run out of juice after just a few starts or after a short while of driving with the lights on.
You have it wired right according to the old hookup...crank the car and pull the hot +wire off the battery...if the car continues to run then the alternator is charging, I would look at the battery at this point. What you trying to determine is if the new alternator is producing enough voltage to charge the battery...if you remove the hot wire from the battery and it runs its producing the voltage or the car would die because of lack of voltage to the coil. If the car dies when you remove the hot wire from the battery it is more than likely the voltage regulator ( this is a square box with 4 wires plugged into the side of it that come from the alternator. It is mounted next to the battery below the starter solenoid.
ok I pulled the positive battery terminal while the car was running and it died. I would swtich the alternator wiring around and try it again, but with my ignition locked up and not wanting to unlock I can't start the car.
The alternator is wired right comparing it to the old alternator pic..this sounds like a voltage regulator problem.
