So I finally upgraded to a Ford 3g 130 amp alternator and thought I would share something that probably most people know, but I did not. I was installing this on a 72 Comet with a 302. The lower alternator bracket has a stamping of d0oe. My 75 Maverick 302 lower alternator bracket has a stamping of d3ae. The d0 bracket attaches to the lower ear of the alternator in the front. The d3 bracket attaches to the ear on the back. "So what", you say. With the d0 bracket the alternator bolted right in without any modification to the bracket or alternator case. The d3 bracket could not attach without some bracket and/or alternator case grinding.

Here are a couple of pictures to illustrate.

Bracket behind ear, similar to the d3

Bracket in front, similar to the d0

I installed my bracket on the front with a little grinding since I put a 3/8-16 Helicoil in the alternator so I don't have to fool around with a nut behind the bracket.

Don't know. On mine I had to make a longer spacer but I'm running a Crown Vic serpentine setup.
