Alternator died...

    I think my alternator died. How do you tell a bad alternator from a bad voltage regulator ? When I went out to drive the mav last night, I noticed the volts sitting at 11.1 at high idle. After letting it warm up a bit, I turned on the head lights and the engine died...lol... Volts dropped to around 10 just before it quit...

    Also, is it worth having a alternator rebuilt these days ? It's a 100 amp Powermaster from summit racing...

    Make sure to charge your battery too! If it sits discharged, it will be damaged. Also, don't try to charge a discharged battery from your alternator! I've seen many burned up doing this! :)

    I seen many bad alternators check out being good at the parts stores...also same thing with batteries.

    All is good now... I put my old alternator back on and it's charging up a storm...lol...
    I'll keep the old one for now, I want to get a higher amp one wire soon....
