Is there anyway to get them to read accurate or check to see if they are correct? I installed one yesterday, put 8 gals in my tank and the gas gauge is reading 1/4. I know the gas gauge could be wrong also...any advice?

Testing requires using resistor(s) connected in place of sending unit(or a Ford test unit). Shop manual says using 73 ohms, gauge should read empty & 10 ohms full(I assume that's on the marks). Sooo somewhere around 32-40 ohms should read half tank. Of course you can ohm out the sending unit to see if it gives similar readings at various float levels.

It's a common test practice to jumper a ground wire in place of sending unit.. If connected for more than a few seconds likely damages gauge & doesn't really indicate if calibration is anywhere near correct. A reasonably good test unit could be fabbed using a wire wound, 100 ohm potentiometer.
