By now you have probably noticed that some of the pages on the MMB now display text ads from Google. I have added the advertisements in order to try to make Maverick.to financially self-sufficient. The site keeps growing every month and it is already pushing the disk space limit. I can no longer "zip" the backup of the database and must download a 250+ megabyte file each time I take a backup of the database. As the site keeps growing, more and more resources are consumed and this leads to an increase in costs.

    Stefan,

I know you're not on a fishing expedition, but I would be happy to contribute some funds in the interest of keeping this site not only up and running but also ad-free. I'm sure there are many others here who feel the same. You have been providing this medium of exchange for all of us to benefit from for years now and I certainly don't have a problem with helping out when it's needed. One of the nicest things here besides the people is that it is somewhat of a safe haven from all the bad things on the www. I'd hate to see this place become all junked up with ads only because of financial reasons. This is the greatest site on the internet and I certainly want to have it continue in it's current form. Let me know what I can do.

    Sam :)

Stefan; I agree with Sam. It is so nice to come here and not have to put up with pop-ups, ads, and all the crap we see elsewhere. I am sure we would be more than happy to chip in to maintain that freedom. Let us know,

    Earl

Guys, thanks for all the words of encouragement. :) The new version of the forum has a subscription option that keeps track of "premium members". I could set up "premium" accounts to be ad-free and add extra features such as more disk space for PMs and uploads and maybe even e-mail. Does this sound interesting?

Stefan, I really love the advantages of the new setup. If you give an address I am sure people will donate most generously.

I did check out the ad link for Ford Radiators. Very cool. It was like a live chatroom with a service rep answering my questions "live". A Maverick radiator is about $180.

FWIW I wouldn't object to advertising as long as it's not obtrusive or offensive, and if possible, relates to the theme of the board. However I can also see the point of those who would like to keep the board completely ad-free, so the idea of "premium" accounts does sound interesting. Stefan, I think the new features of the board are very cool, and you've always had what's best for the board in mind in the past. You can't please everyone all the time, but I'm sure you'll be able to make the best decision about this.

If you could set it up to accept Paypal that would be awesome. You can count me in......Don't want to loose this site. Great place to talk Mavericks & Comets, and to keep in touch with Club members.
