:huh:im doing me headlights in the other post and when i was taking the cluster out i noticed a lil disk laying on it w/rubber on 1 side and a notch on one side

i see where it goes and it controls a switch but what does this switch do for my vents or heater?

is this why its always stuck on defrost?
and how do i put it back on?

If so that is the part that controls which vents are on and when the a/c is kicked on and off.

Its pretty common for that switch to fall apart. You got to find another one if you want your blower to blow anywhere other than defrost. The heating system in all the factory ac cars is controlled by vacuum doors rather than mechanical. If you can find that switch in a 70, they are made of metal rather than plastic.
