a noob here looking for help

    hi my name is mike.. tomorow i am hoping to purchase a ford maverick, anyway i would like to get the bolt pattern on the vehicle.. i heard they are 4 lug but that would make it 4x??

    any help is appreciated
    im sure i will have many questions in the future

    4 lug nuts holding each wheel on instead of 5 on the early ones, 5 on the later ones.

    thanks for the help.. haha i havnt even bought it yet but im already lookin for wheels.. its gonna need new tires so i figure if i can pick up a deal on both why not :)

    welcome to the board. :Welcome: keep in mind if you buy a 4 lug maverick that one of the most common upgrades is to a 5 lug rear end and disc brakes. you don't want to spend money on wheels and then have to do it again.:)

    besides the wheel options what other advantages are there.. i drove it last night and it braked nicely and drove nicely.. so im not really thinkin discs are nessecary.. but i mean u guys know far more then me about these cars

    I ran 4 lug brakes for many years, even after I put the 302 in it. I never had a problem stopping the car and I drove the hell out of it. The advantage to disc is they dont fade or pull like drum brakes do. That in itself makes it worth the swap. But as far as normal driving or effort to stop, there is not much difference in my opinion.

    thanks very much for that help.. i intend to drive it just normal use, i dont intend to race so ill probably stick with 4 lugs for now

    Yeah that sounds about right. If nothing else, dics brakes on the front would help but I think they are all 5 lugs. Normal driving, it probably wouldn't matter that much, but with todays drivers, you might want those dics...
