I found this add and was wondering if it would be possible to swap into a 70maverick with out a lot of mods.

Take a tape measure and go from the brake backing plate on one side
to the same spot on the other. You should be measuring from the inside.

IF it is in a '69 Lincoln, I am guessing that it is going to be quite a bit
wider than your std. Maverick 8 in. rear. Measure your Maverick rear
    to compare.
Look on the front of the rearend, the side that the driveshaft mounts
to. That is the 'pumpkin' or 'Hogshead. It is held on with nuts attached
to bolts in the housing. It should have a 2.5-3 inch metal tag. It's probably
dirty, see if you can read all the stampings on there. Get all the numbers and
codes. Look at one side in the center of the brake drum. If you have a rectangular
slot in the center of the axle, it is likely a 28 spline axle unit. If it has 2 or 3 drilled holes, it could be a 31 spline unit.
Post all that info here and someone can tell you what it is.

The only 9inch rearend that is the exact same size as the 8 inch rears
that most Mavericks came with are the ones that came in '64-'65 Comets/
Falcons and '64.5-'66 Mustangs. Mustangs and all other cars from '67 on
up are wider. The spring perches are in the correct spot for some year vehicles,
but they are wider overall in length unless it is something really odd.

There is a chance that your '70 Maverick which was originally a 6 cyl. may
not have the 8 inch rear. They did offer a smaller light duty rear early on.
That could have been different in width than the 8 inch rears. I don't know
    for sure.

    Best of luck.

I had one of those, just sold it. Doesnt really matter if you are going to cut it. But if you are looking for a something close, this wont work
