Unless you use the serpentine belt set up off the 85...You will need a standard rotation water pump and front cover. As well as a front sump oil pan and pickup.
You will also need a 50 oz flex plate or fly wheel depending on trans choice...

You should read the tech article http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=36034 There are a lot of details to consider like fuel pump, dip stick, clutch linkage or auto column shift linkage, distributor gear, harmonic balancer, flywheel or flexplate, and oil pan/pickup.

...which is good, because it most likely had the wrong oil pan, and a fuel injected intake. You would have had to scrap them both and replace.

They'll fit but why would you want to put a 2 bbl on it. If you have to swap it over you might as well go with a 4 bbl.

Use the pan, buy a used 4 bbl intake. There is no reason to jump up to a 5.0 and use a 2 bbl intake.

You can get a decent intake for $100 or less.

And for a couple hundred more, or less (if you can barter and trade for parts, I got mine free!) upgrade to roller cam, roller rockers, and roller everything!

Why would you want to go from electronic to points?

Distributor gear needs to match the cam. So if you use the newer cam, use the newer distributor gear (and distributor, if you want).

I use an old points style distributor, with Pertronix installed, and newer distributor gear to match my newer cam. I just didn't want all the extra wire you get with an electronic distributor.

Is it a HO engine or a std output???

The '85 HO was 1st to use a roller cam and requires a steel gear on the dist(that's '85 5-speed ONLY, automatics used a flat tappet iron cam with CFI), the '85 Dist could be used from a 5-speed as it's a Duraspark....

Just in case it isn't a '85, all prior had flat tappet cam and ALL '86-up passenger cars had a roller cam(that's right HO or std output), trucks didn't get the roller cam till the early '90s... Std output & trucks use same firing order as the earlier 289/302(15426378), the HO has 351 firing order(13726548)...
