Hello, I need the measurement of a stock 8" housing from a V8 car (backing plate to backing plate). Need this to figure out what to cut my 9" down to fit. Will be installing 15X8.5 wheels with 3.5 BS Need the backing plate to backing plate measurement and not drum to drum. My car has a 9" in it now that came out of a 69 Mustang and it is wider than the original 8" was. Thanks Again Everyone! 1MadMav
if im not mistaken, i measured one and it was right at 49 1/2", and they're 56" from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface
i belive the axle brake off set is 2.5 so that means that the housing is 51 inches from housing end to housing end for a 56 in axle flange to axle flange.
