just wondering if there was anything interchangable on these cars, came across 1 for 350 with 53k on it, might actually be worth checking out for a driver :D

    The engine and tranny.

    Everything else is "Fox" body.
That means that it is built on the 5.0 Mustang, Capri, T-Bird, Cougar, baby LTD, and late Granada platform.
What is great about those cars is that the entire car (aside from body skin) is 5.0 Mustang. Anything you can get for a 5.0 or do to a 5.0, you can get or do for that car. Much of the interior even interchanges.
Get a 460 swap kit for a 5.0 and make that car a serious sleeper.

Actually the Fairmont/Zephyr is the "Fox" chassis and debuted in '78. The Mustang/Capri came out on the Fox chassis in '79, with the other cars following suit in the ensuing years in 2 dr, 4 dr and station wagon versions. They even had a Mercury Cougar station wagon for one year only in 1982!

If it is a Futura, grab it. Not many left. I have a 78 drag car and think it is neat. Only problem I see with them is, if it has a six cyl engine and you do a V8 swap, should either get the K member out of a 4 or 8 cyl. one. Header and then starter problems crop up with the 6cyl one's. Better yet is to get an aftermarket tubular one for the fox chassis and then all those problems are eliminated. Price sounds good if it is in nice shape.
