i pulled the entire drive line out of a 68 mercury montego when i bought the maverick i started with no mounts and it looked like the mecury was the same set up the motor bolted right in with no problems but it seems to set to high iam running an air gap intake and a holly 750 and having a hard time getting a breather more than 2 inchs tall on it and still rubbing the hood is the maverick mounts shorter thanks for any info

the problem isnt with the motor mounts my comet is the same way with the same intake. its just the engine compartment its self the original intake manifolds were relatively flat so it wasnt a problem well technology has advanced while these old cars have not. I have figured out Im going to have to cut my hood to run an air cleaner. Im waiting and wishing for a carbon fiber hood for my car for christmas. otherwise the old hoods gonna get it lol

Im sure theres something out there that will work like a low profile air cleaner but I dont know about it if there is such a thing.

You need Maverick/Comet motor mounts and engine stands ...The part the rubber mounts bolt to on the lower portion of the towers...Anything else is going to put the engine too high in the bay. An airgap will fit under the stock hood on a 302 equipped mav with a 4V carb and a drop base air filter setup...

yup maverick engine mounts are different, luckily you can get a set at oreillys/napa.
stay away from the autozone ones, they're complete JUNK.
