Welcome to the board. The problem with searching for a Stallion is the fact that these cars are so desireable that most people who own one don't want to sell it. One came up on Ebay last month but there was a lot of controversy concerning its authenticity. Another limiting factor is if you are searching for a particular color combination. Have you given any thought to creating a clone? Just some thoughts to ponder.

    Sam :)

    clone

i would really like to try and get an original stallion, do you know how much they run for useually. It could be a fixerupper i dont mind that it will give my dad something to put his money into when he retires. But what did u mean by clone like take a comet a change it into a stallion? Do they look as sexy as the stallions?

I hope you can find one. According to the Automotive Information Group which I contracted a while ago after I got mine, there are allegedly 216 Stallions left in the US, both including titles still active which includes junkers that have not been crushed yet. I know of three here in PA including mine, one of which is in a salvage yard in Fayette County, unsalvageable condition. :( Other than the one on eBay which indeed was the seat of controversy, I haven't heard of any for sale anywhere. I've turned down several offers to buy mine from as far away as Alaska.

The Stallion owners here on this board are myself, Jean Doll, and Dan Starnes.

I personally know of no others.

Best of luck in your quest!

The sport version of the Maverick was the Grabber but the package was discontinued in 75. The Stallion took its place for a year. As far as the difference in any of these cars, be it a Comet GT, Sprint, Grabber, Stallion, or plain stock, it is all basically cosmetic. They are the same cars and can be made to handle or be fast for the same price, beginning from the same starting point..

Actually Wilbur owns 2. His silver one and the other is one he bought off ebay, it is really rare with a 302 3spd on the floor, but is really rough. Brent Mulvaney has one also. So I can count 9 that I personally know that still exist. Plus add the one that recently was on ebay and that makes 10. Also, I have included in that figure of one that is still circulating around my neck of the woods, a yellow one with a V8 and 3spd on the floor.

I should probably introduce myself seeing that you guys are helping me so much, how much did you pay for your stallion if you dont mind me asking and was it in good condtion. So trying to find a stallion is hard enough so me trying to find one with the 302 4 barrel 3 speed on the floor that was what he had, is gonna be even harder isnt it!?

Pat,,, I paid $4600.00 for my Stallion and it was in showroom condtion. Reason is cause I bought mine new. I have no idea what a nice one is worth. There has not been a sale of a nice one in my recent memory to compare it to. As far as a 302 4 barrel and 3 speed trans, none were produced with a 4 barrel, would have to been added on by owner. If 90 % of the cars in 1976 were automatic transmission cars. Then that leaves finding a 302 3spd manual trans on floor car pretty hard to find. You would have MUCH easier and quicker luck in finding a good Maverick and making a clone out of it. After all, it really is just a cosmetic option.

ps I recently turned down $34,000.00 for my car. A local guy who changes cars as much as I change underwear wants my car real bad. He offered the money. He looked at me real dumb when I just had to tell him, 'What dont you understand in, the car is not for sale?' I told him to be at my estate sale, cause I am not selling the car in this lifetime.

If he changes cars that often you should have taken the $34,000 and then bought it back for $24,000 when he was tired of it! :D

Not sure I could have turned down $34,000 ...

I completely forgot about Wilbur. Sorry, guy. I didn't know about Brent.

I paid $550 at a car corral in Ohio and drove it home. It was pretty rough but is back in it's former glory. Fortunately, Ohio puts subgroups on the title so I could verify that it was an original Stallion as it was repainted, ugly blues to boot. Mine is a 250/auto. I wish it was a 302, but beggars can't be choosers. I don't wish to modify it from factory so a conversion is not in the cards.

It's a shame the one I found in the salvage yard was completely beyond hope. It was a yellow one.

Does anyone know what happened to the one on eBay? I've been curious about it. I entertained the notion of going after it, but something kept telling me to cool it.

Looks like the posts were purged, but the member's name was yellowstallion. If I recall correctly, he had tried selling it and said if it didn't sale he was going to hold on to it and restore it later, but I believe if anyone contacted him, he would still sale it out right.

We paid $6,000 for the Stallion 5 1/2 years ago all orgn. other than someone put headers and 4 barrel carb. and intake on it before we got it plan to change it back sometime. Black & Sliver bucket seats, floor shift, factory am/fm 8 track, factory alumn. rims with Mav. center caps. Had quite a few ask if it was for sale but only have had one offer about a month after we got it a show we to a guy wanted to know if it was for sale he had one but wrecked it and had never seen another one said i don't know what you paid for it but i will give you a $1,000 more than than you paid right know i thought about it but Susan said no glad she did. As for the e-bay one don't know about it it's pretty much gone, floors, fenders, hood, doors, quaters, bumpers, seats, most all the inside, but looks pretty good on the underside.
