73 mav 8" rearend (need help,advice)

    anyone tighten the backlash on a ford 8" rearend? mine has slop and is providing a loud thunk when engaged in drive. also does anyone have step by step directions or video on how to?:hmmm:

    The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    mine was making a thunk when i put it in gear but i just changed the U-joints and it went away.

    I agree. check you u-joints. that's usually the culprit.:)

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    If your diff whines/thumps while in motion you have a problem...sounds like U-joints...check em out.
