'71 up and going! -pictures included-

    Well, as of yesterday I got my '71 up and running. I took it for it's first run around town today while a local festival was going on, you know, to show it off a little :). After almost a week's work of work here's what i got accomplished: :yahoo:
    -old engine removed
    -transmission removed
    -"old" engine parts swapped to "new" engine ('91 5.0 HO)
    -reinstalled engine
    -reinstalled transmission
    -hooked up nic nacs
    -etc. etc....

    The end result is a carb'd '91 model 302/5.0 roller engine, 4V Weiand intake, Edelbrock 600cfm carb, 3G 130amp alernator conversion, MSD 6AL ignition installed, dual 2" exhaust w/ flowmaster mufflers and a few other odd and end items. :drive:

    While taking it for it's first run today I noticed the tranny having trouble shifting into 3rd gear so in light of this discovery I'm thinking of putting an AOD trans in the car. I have the matching AOD from the 5.0 roller motor so shouldnt be a big deal. and for those interested, here's some pictures :bananaman

    in the next 2 weeks to come im going to put an AOD trans in it and maybe go ahead and paint it.... we'll have to see what happens :D Thanks for the support guys!

    well i took my car out today on some back country roads (pretty much any road around here that's not in town, lol) and gave it some hell to see if i could "make" it shift. well after about 20 minutes of givin it some hell in 2nd gear around 55-60 mph, it finally shifter into 3rd gear. so i turned around and went back up the road and it shifter into third once again...

    to make a long story short i done this three or four times and now i have a really nice shifting transmission. i believe the valve body may have been stuck from sitting so long. it shifts from 1-2 around 15mph and 2-3 around 35/40 mph and all shifts are nice and firm (i like nice and firm..... shifts that is :D)

    so all in all, i believe this transmisson will benefit from a fluid and filter change and should be good to go (y) as for my extra AOD, ill just have it rebuilt and wait for the C4 to go out :rolleyes:
