just went and picked up my 70 mav, its going to need some TLC. it has 120 hp on the air cleaner does anyone know which I-6 this is. does a guy have to replace the whole tranny tunnel when you swap I-6 to V-8 or just notch it here and there.
. Howdy there. The motor is probably a 200 cu. in . If you post your VIN # , some1 can tell you from that. Hope fully the engine is the original 1.The second letter will be either-U (170) or T (200). EX -0k91t------. When changing to a V8 you have to use a trans from a V8 and depending on the trans , determins how much you have to Massage the hump.. hope this helps. RON
Congrats on your new acquisition. Sounds like you're going to have hours and hours and hours and hours of entertainment with it. No, you do not have to do anything special to the tunnel to put a stock-style 302 in it. Even though '71 and up had larger tunnels (somone jump in if I'm wrong), the 302 block will fit easily enough in the '70 (I put one in mine). Now, if you're going to go with larger headers or an AOD, you will have some modifying to do. Good luck with the project.
thank you for the info, i gutted the interior today and i will have to replace some floor pans, i am also putting in sub frame connectors do you recomend connectors first or pan first
Pans first (IMO). Then SFC's. I assume you intend to add some power or just want more body stiffness by putting SFC's in? What are your plans for your car (strip-only, street only, street/strip, bigger power plant, etc.)?
We-hell, then. You should be able to do that on a three day weekend! Good luck with it. Sounds like you're going to have one mean machine.
