Does anyone have a 69 Mustang Gas Tank installed on their Mav/Comet? Could you post some pics of it? I'm torn between the 65-68 tank or the 69 tank. Does the 69 tank hang way below the valance and stick out?

I am into Mustangs and Cougars.

The 1969 Mustang fuel tank is 20 gallons, previous tanks were 16 gallons (1967-68).

These two tanks are trunk mounted and the only difference besides capacity is less trunk space with the 20 gallon tanks.

The bottom clad side of the tanks are the same, the larger capacity comes from on top which is your trunk floor.

Why not just buy a new 76 Maverick tank?

Thanks for the help fellas. Didn't know that the Mustang tanks are the same underneath but that it's the top part that is bigger.

Will the mustang sender work with the Mav's fuel gauge?

The reason I wasn't loking at a 76 Mav tank is from the tech article it interferes with the rear valence and is offset to the left so it's harder to run dual exhausts. What is the valve and gromment for that they are talking about with the 75-77 tanks?

It doesn't even touch the rear valance, I have one on my 73, and I've at least an inch clearance.
The exhaust thing is an issue, I have mine dump out behind the rear wheels.
Somewhere on here, the part numbers are posted for the vent, it's just different than the older style tanks.

...all '71-'77 Mav/Comet tanks are offset to the left...

I have a '76 tank on my '73, it doesn't touch the valance...

the...valve...is to vent the tank for...nonvented gas caps.

Yes - the ohms resistance of the Mustang sender is compatable to work the Maverick guage. Depending on year / set up for your car - the only thing that may need to be changed is the plug that attaches to the unit. Some cars are 1 wire (sending wire) and some are 2 wire (sending wire and a ground). Easy to adapt either one.

Is the Maverick gas cap vented?

If the 76 tank was used is the vent just to the air or to some sort of charcoal canister?

mavgrab302 on this forum is using a 69 Stang tank. I think he has some post/ thread on the forum. I know I saw them - just can't recall where.
