5.0 rear intake oil leak

    I have an oil leak at the back of the intake where the oil galley is. I have replaced gasket already and it still leaks. Could this be caused by the plug being pushed up? When I had the intake off I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but then again I didn't really even think about it until I got it back together and it started leaking again right after finishing. Anybody else have this issue.

    When you run boost...Well... things happen. If the plug is loose... It is in a location that would allow oil to push past the intake end seal under oil pressure...Of course boost and poor ring seal will blow oil out too. Pull the intake and check the galley plug...Good luck!!!

    I use Ford black RTV in the caulk tube for the end gaskets.

    Well I figured where I went wrong was I didn't use the cork end gaskets like I normally do. I had a few "oldtimers" tell me not to use them because they had been doing it that way for years. I had always used the end gaskets with a light coat of rtv on both sides, but I figured I try it the "oldtimers" way twice and failed twice. Went back to doing it my way, problem solved. Although since my engine is boosted the crank case may have been pressurizing and the rtv seal might not be able to hold it:huh:.

    I wasn't aware you were not using the gaskets. The RTV I mentioned isn't your parts store variety RTV either. It's used as oil pan gasket maker on all of the 3.8l engines, including the Super coupe and is still specified for corner seals on virtually everything in the Ford stable. You are probably correct about the crankcase pressure, but if it's that high, it will find another place to leak. I would look into an oil separator type breather system if you continue to develop leaks.
