I have a 1970 ford maverick. It is 170 ci inline six a three on the tree manual transmission. I would like to make a street/strip car and was looking to swap a fuel injected 5.0 H.O. or cobra into it. I was told i would have issues with oil pan, mounts, clutch linkage ect. Should i just go with an older 302. Also which transmission should i use. I was thinking a T-5 but do not really know. I love mavericks but have no real experance with them and i know you guys know your stuff. I was also wondering which rear end i should use. I was thinking 9". Is there a 9" i can just bolt on or will i have to have custon narrowing done. Please all suggrestion would be a great help and greatly appreaciated. Thanks in advance.
I would use the cobra or 5.0. I'm in the middle of the swap now. To fix the oil pan just get a front sump and pick up tube. I would use the mustang clutch cable also. If you search you will find lots of clutch cable stuff. I posted some with another guy here. You should beable to find it be searching user name rx7351w or clutch cable. I have some pictures of how I added the mustang clutch cable to the maverick pedal box. The monarch, granada, versailes 9 inch rear swaps right in. You will also need v8 motor mounts. Chad
I dont know for sure but I think all years of Granadas, Monarchs and Versalies. There should be a bunch of info if you search under Granada brake
