well since i didn't want to pay the $600 for a set of custom headers or the ones offered by other companies i made some work.

i used a set of hedman 88660, they are a very tight fit but they do fit if you got a hammer, heat and some time. i had to dent most of the pipes only 3 of them had to be dented badly, the header bolts are a pain to get in but if you think about it and do them in the right order their not to bad to get in, i also had to dent the lower firewall in a little nothing to bad or serious, the collectors are close to the floor board but you can get the exhaust on no problem ill snap a couple picks and post them when i can. these header will work for a 351w swap they cost me 160 bucks and about 7 hours to get them in hahaha, but it beats 600 any day for me.

Im still 50/50 on weather i want a 5.0/5.8. Header choice is my main concern, these are 1 5/8inch but i think theyre better than 302 manifolds.

Go 302 and make it a 347. 351 is bragging rights but a lot of engineering is required.

Couple of points... (not to rain on your parade, but)

1: Swap headers can be made to fit without compromising the performance of the headers with dents and other such bottlenecks in flow.

2: Crites headers are only about 300 bux. Half of the 600 you quote, and close enough to the money you spend on far lesser headers to make it worthwhile to get a set that works and flows. The Crites have larger tubes, and the tubes won't have power losing dents.

I'm sorry, but I don't see that you gained anything.
If those 3 "really badly bent" tubes are bad enough, you may have wasted 160 bux and 10 hours labor when you realize how poorly the engine is running.
