i have a 71 maverick, 302 with 60k on it, and i was wanting some more performance out of it, any ideas? i was thinking swap the 2 for a 4 barrel carb, maybe an intake, and cam/lifter set up, any ideas? been awhile for me and the 302's, not up with all the new stuff, thanks!!
While changing the cam also change the timing set with a good aftermarket set, not a stock replacement set. Stock cam timing was retarded for emmissions.
Start with headers and dual exhaust then do the intake/carb rear end gears are a must. From there you can play and upgrade as time/$$ allows...
If your interested Ive got a old style edelbrock F4B alum. manifold, and a 600cfm Edelbrock carb, aswell as a summit brand billet hei (coil in cap) distributor. I could give them all to a maverick guy for $200 (price of a bellhousing i need). that and headers should wake your motor up to run up on newer mustangs. add a good cam and youve got some real ponies. i will post in the classifieds with good pictures later tonight. all of them are in bolt on condition, carb may need tuned better because i was running a little rich before i took my old motor out. i live in western ohio near dayton.
