I have a 1972 comet with a c4 trans and now a 91 302 roller engine. The engine was rebuilt by a professional shop. I have a new flex plat with 50 oz. weight and a harmonic balancer from Summit with 50 oz as well. I have a vibration, while in park, at about 2,500 rpm that can be felt in the steering wheel. While driving this vibration goes away at about 55 to 60 mph. When the engine was finished at the shop and they did not have a flex plate, torque converter or the harmonic balancer yet. The shop next door had finished rebuilding my c4 so I asked them if they would mate the tranny to the new engine. So they ordered a new 50 oz flex plate and new torque converter and I gave them the harmonic balancer from Summit to install all which they did. How could the engine shop have balanced he engine without the other parts. Help! Larry
Unless they borrowed a flywheel and damper, they couldn't. Ask to see the balance sheet with bobweights, most shops keep that on file in case you need to replace a piston, rod, or crank later.
