I recently aquired a gearvendors overdrive unit, came off a 4 speed toploader mustang. The driver was in an accident and unfortunately didn't make it out alive. I got the unit for $900. His widow was asking $500 but I offered 9 if she would put me ahead of the other 3 guys wanting it.

I couldn't score the toploader but I do have a 3 speed that i got from a 73 comet if I remember right. I think these were toploaders also?

My question is are these 3 speed versions able to handle the same as their 4 speed cousins?

The T5 i have in the car right now is just a timebomb waiting to go off. And i'd really like to run slicks.

Ditto, the 3 speed Toploaders are just as strong as the 4 speeds. I had a 67 FB Stang that came with one from the factory behind it's GT390. The Gearvendors should go right onto it as the tail housings were the same length and spline count output shafts (if it was behind a small block Toploader)

If it's the 3.03 3-speed, they were used behind big blocks, too.
