2 3/4 axle?

    i am changing the rearend out of the 73 and have run into a prob...the new rearend came w/o drums or id tag on rearend. the old 8" had a 2 1/2 hole in the center drum for the axle but the new one we just installed will need a drum with a 2 3/4 hole in the center....parts store cant figure what drums will fit and i am at wits end....anyone know what year of 8"(pictures previousally posted under what rearend is this) would have the 2 3/4 drums hole???:mad:

    73's had a smaller hole in the drums, 74 & up were bigger.

    All the cars with disc brakes should have the larger diameter hole. NAPA's websight shows part#UP 6401486 for the later drums.

    When you go get drums, just tell them you want them for a 74 Maverick.
    Pretty simple.

    Do you still use your stock 73 rims?
    If so, they won't fit the hub of the axle either.
    You need later rims, or pop the axles out of the rear and swap your small hub axles in... assuming you aren't replacing the rear due to axle failure.
