Okay, so the transmission is all repaired which is awesome, but now I'm having a different odd issue, one that's been there ever since I got rid of the smog garbage. I did reconnect all the vacuum lines that were necessary (transmission vacuum regulator, vacuum lines to distributor) but removing the boosters and smog gear probably changed the vacuum dynamics regardless revealing this issue. Here goes. I have no problem with the upshifts. 1-2 is at 10 MPH and 2-3 is at 20 MPH, approximately, with very light throttle. Heavier throttle moves it forward quite a ways as normal. Kick-down works properly. The issue I'm having is with deceleration. I can't feel the 3-2 shift so I don't know where that is, but the 2-1 shift happens at only 5 MPH. This gives me very little engine braking when coming to a stop (I'm practically already stopped by the time it shifts down!) and occasionally, after I've been driving it for a while and everything's nice and warm, it won't catch the 2-1 downshift at all and will try to start off in 2. I'm guessing this is an adjustment problem but I'm not sure where to look or what to check. Are these speed points normal? Is there any way to increase the 2-1 downshift speed so it kicks in earlier, and could that incredibly low engagement speed be related to why every so often it 'forgets' to drop into 1st at a stop? Thanks as always, you guys are the best!
