I got the Maverick back from the exhaust shop today, so this is the first real day of driving after the v8 5 speed swap. I had misgivings changing from the i6 to the 8, but not anymore. It's the engine, trans., and most of the exhaust from my old cougar but it feels better. You can really tell it's a lighter car. Manual steering, manual brakes, electric fan, and no vacuum operated headlight covers doesn't hurt either. I still have some known (and probably unknown) loose ends to tie up, but wow!

Yup. Some anti sway bars, better tires, bumper tuck or swap...... I sure appreciate the forum. Like many I'm sure, I've spent hours studying up.

Southeast Iowa. No kidding, but I've seen what looks like a Comet Gt running around and a gold one like mine this summer. Not for sale of course, but neat to see.
Thanks for the information and encouragement guys.
