I purchased a 77 Mav last spring from Southern California. It has a 250-6 ps, pb and a c-4 automatic. It has bucket seats too! Recently got a Grabber hood and rear spoiler on e-bay. Am going to go to the smaller bumpers that was available from 70-72. Hope to be putting some pic's on this site soon. Have owned 2 Mav's in the past, a 1970 blue Mav. & a 1971 Grabber in a dark green metalic with white stripes and a factory Hurst floor shiftwhich I ordered new in 1971. I am anxious to get started on this one! Glad to be a part of this site, Joe

Howdy and welcome. No Maverick ever came from the factory with a Hurst shifter. Got proof?

And I would guess that NO Ford ever came from the factory with a Hurst 3-Speed floor shifter ...

Guys, he's new to the site, maybe it was Dealer installed, if true obviously it was rare, so many ways that could be true, in light of special dealer installed items, I say give him the benefit of the doubt.

    Welcome to the site !

HI, TO ANYONE THAT QUESTIONED A HURST FLOOR SHIFT IN MY 1971 FACTORY ORDERED GRABBER, I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS A HURST FLOOR SHIFTER FOR THE 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANS. WISH I HAD SOME PIC'S OF THAT CAR OR SEREAL #'S TO CHECK IT OUT. BUT THAT WAS 34 YEARS AGO AND I HAVE FORGOT A FEW THINGS (AND BELIEVE ME THERE ARE A FEW THINGS OVER THE YEARS THAT I'D LIKE TO FORGET!) YOU GUYS HAVE KEPT UP ON THESE THINGS IN REGARDS TO MAVERICK'S ECT. THAT I HAVE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS I GOT ANOTHER MAVERICK THAT I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE TO A 71 -72 GRABBER LOOK! POSSIBILY BECAUSE OWNING ONE AGAIN WILL REMIND ME OF MY YOUTH BACK THEN (WILD &CRAZY?) I AM 61 NOW, AND ALWAYS LIKED THE STYLE OF THE MAV'S, BUT NOT THE TAXI CAB BUMPERS ON THE LATER MODELS. AN EMPLOYEE AT WHERE I WORK (RURAL NW ILLINOIS) SAYS SHE HAS 2 EARLIER MAV'S SITTING ON HER PROPERTY WHICH HAVE RUST, AND HAVE NOT BEEN STARTED OR DRIVEN IN SEVERAL YEARS. I TOLD HER THAT I AM INTRESTED IN GETTING SOME PARTS, BUT SHE SAYS I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT HER SON WHO LIVES OUT OF THE AREA. HAVE TRYED AND WILL KEEP TRYING. I WAS TOLD THE BEST WAY TO SWITCH TO SMALLER BUMPERS IS TO GET A DOANER? CAR AND TAKE WHAT I NEED. CAN'T BRING ANOTHER CAR HOME! WOULD CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE WIFE, BUT WILL KEEP WORKING ON THIS. MY 77 IS MEDIUM COPPER METALIC. HOPEFULLY I CAN GET SOME PIC'S ON SOON. GLAD TO BE PART OF THIS SITE, JOE
