Hello I just picked up a 1976 mercury comet with 80,000 miles on it. I have had 4 other mavericks years ago my favorite was a 1971 olive green 2 door v8 I bought off a old lady in 1987 with 34,000 miles sweet ride,lost it to a pole 2 months later,kept engine and trans for a 1977 what a gear ratio change between yrs also had 1970 grabber shot but wouldnt stop running 3 speed on column and 74 six cylinder. ok enough for now I am not a typer but will need some advice on some issues with this orange pumkin I bought for 700

Thanks for the welcoming so far, I am sure this place is going to get the kid back in to me. I already collect motorcycles ! Heres some information I would like to share.I am not that old but am living with cancer and try to take every day to the fullest.I was looking for a 4 wheel drive or beater car for are bad ohio weather.My ss cobalt doesnt even like rain.This car was a daily driver until 8 months ago and nowI have it,always maintained 6 cylinder 80,000 miles. I hope this is not too big a project for me. I think I might just have some body work done and keep it original,even though I would love to clone it.Money would not be a issue just labor and end return investment. to much work I put plates on car today and went to car wash its still to cold outside for me. I noticed the trans had morning sickness because of cold,it did not do this when I brought it home the other day.Seams to be good running other than that,new tires, front end work good smooth brakes and quiet exhaust.I will try to get out tommorow and check transmition fluid and vaccume hoses. I am just going to use car as everyday driver and try to do minimual work to it mostly to look a little nicer. I did get quite a few looks driving around town. maybe because its winter,orange,comet,or all the above. I would rather have a grabber,really dont care about production numbers,it doesnt seam to mean anything on these cars.I am already looking for a spring time MAVERICK
