Well, amazing as it sounds, I actually installed a new carburetor on my 74 Maverick. (if you knew how clumsy I am with mechanical things, you'd understand...lol) It had been sitting for over 10 yrs. in a garage when I bought it. It had only 18,400 actual miles on it. Man, that car runs as good as it did on the show room. All I got to do now is clean out the gas tank. I'm getting lots of rust particles in the fuel filter and the guage is stuck on empty.:bananaman

Better clean that tank out before you run it too much, or it will just gunk up your carb, and you will be learning how to rebuild it (the carb) in the very near future.

    Just from personal experience...

Check out my website or do a search on cleaning and coating the tank to prevent further rust. There is a 2-step etch/epoxy coating that you can get for cheap.
