I've been looking all across the internet but haven't found much info on the factory hp/torque @rpm specs of the 250ci I6 . Anyone know them off the top of there heads? Also wanted to know the curb weight of the 74' with a 250 I6
Want my opinion? You been lookin' at them ricers to long. You can't expect much out an Straight 6, it'll get ya from point A to point B until we get you a 302 in there. Now why I didn't just walk down the hall and tell you this, the world may never know. edit: you might want to update the Honda Spree there in your sig. It now goes 28 after my little carb adjustments! :bananaman
dude, I'd tell you but you won't like it ....... My Chilton's list the Hp of the 74 250 I-6 at ..... drum roll ..... 91 hp @ 3200 rpm torque 190 ftlbs @ 1600 rpm don't know about the weight, go to a scrap yard and run it over a scale but hey, that's what I got in mine it cranks everytime ....... Tylar Miles , here are some web sites for ya to check out . www.fordsix.com www.fordsixparts.com www.cliffordperformance.com
Come on now guys, I had to get at least an extra .05 horsepower outa that thing by rebuilding and adjusting the carb and cleaning all the carbon outa the top end. The exaust port was HALF full of carbon!
I have a '71 Comet with a 250 I6, did a compression test to find 0 lb in #4 and 60 lb in #5 ,(I hope the block hadn't burnt a "notch" between the cylinders), I will pull the head next week and hope for the best. Anyway, I intend to do a valve job on it and plan to change the valves out to the larger valves of a later model engine. Can anyone ID the year Ford went to the larger valves and a possible source of the valves and seats?...Thanks to all...kafrompa (kagraveliii@yahoo.com)
