I was looking at replacing the cylinder head gasket on my maverick and it says I need to use a cylinder head sealer. What kind of sealer do I need for this? If someone could send me a like to where I can buy some I would very much appreciate it.

Are you referring to what it says in the old shop manuals?
Cause back in the day, the factory used a metal gasket and you needed to spray it with sealer (aluminized paint worked great....... :))

If you are buying a modern composite head gasket, it will have a sealer on it already. Nothing else is needed. Just make sure both surfaces are clean and follow proper torque sequence.

Now copper racing gaskets are a different story .............. :yup:

Thanks :) Thats what I was wondering! I have an aluminum exhaust manifold gasket. Would that also need a sealer?

I'll often see red hi-temp used on the exhaust, but I don't. I run just the gasket. The gasket will be all you need.

In fact, lots of guys just run metal on metal, no sealer or gasket. If both surfaces are machined smooth and not warped, it will seal.
