What is the car worth? Looked at a 1971 Maverick yesterday. Need to know what is a fair offer for this car. Solid no rust except one bubble spot on the drivers door at the bottom, pans are good and cowl didnt leak, dent on hood and front bumper but grill is perfect. 200-6, 4 lug. Drove up until last year and said it should still run but not worried about that as it and the tranny would be coming out.

Up here in the rust belt maybe as high as $3000 to $3500. Looks like a really nice body.

I was going to go $3000 if it was up here in the north. But after I saw how roached the interior is I will go down to $1800. And that is only if the body is as solid as it looks. Any signs of old bondo and it would be less yet in my book.

What is with the rust inside the interior on the dash and e-brake? Looks like maybe it sat awhile outside with the window down. :hmmm:

I would try to get a figure from the seller first and then go from there - maybe they are only thinking a few hundred for it :hmmm:

Car not running, tires have been sitting, fuel tank needs flush and maybe work, interior needs work, bumper, wiper arm.. Body looks amazing though lol..
I agree with you need to know what they are thinking. Without that I am on a budget and considering what I see in the pics, I'm starting at $500. This is buyer.. If I'm selling, $2,000..

I agree and he says it should run, it was when he parked it, but that didnt matter to me as I would be going 302 5 speed. Offered him $1500 about an hour ago and he said he hadnt tried to sell it yet so I told him to try and if he didnt get any better offers to let me know and he said he would. A friend of mine told me about the car and that when his uncle passed that he bought the car unknowing the values and paid way to much for it, so I was expecting him to decline.

Better that he doesn't know your intentions. Not that your jipping him. He will see your high interest in it even though it would be a project. And that's why you need it to be a deal. Stand firm unless you feel it will be lost and you really have to have it.. If he calls back then you have HIS interest.

Whatever you offer, make sure that the "Eat More Possum" sign is included. :yup:

Seriously, that is a solid looking car. I would say around $3k, but like Gene said, I would see what range the seller is looking at.

Update..Sold my Fairlane Sunday and week or so ago I raised my offer to $1750 on the 71 Maverick and still didn't get a response. Called him yesterday and claims a guy offered $2000 and he turned him down that he had decided $2300. First price I have been able to get out of him. Car is parked in the Driveway and isn't that busy of a rural area and the car isn't posted for sale anywhere so not sure he really has a $2000 offer. I found out about the car from a friend that moved the car for him recently to his new residence. Trying to decide whether or not I want to offer more. What do you think?

If it's as clean as you think, rust wise. Just buy it.
