I have an aluminum ID tag that was mounted on the passenger side (facing engine) of the radiator shell support. There are three lines of info as follows: 0658 47 MV62A 04 F213680 BAG L P GRE GOL I could not find this "Tag" in my set of aftermarket Shop Manuals. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
That is called the "buck tag" - when the car is first being created in the welding shop - that tag follows the car while it is "bucked" into a chassis and sent to the assembly line. Not all cars have them. There are some parts that are easy to decode and other parts that are a mystery. 0658 - rotation number 47 - welding station MV ? - 62A - standard 2 door F213680 - partial VIN GRE - for green paint ? I am guessing your car is a Dearborn car - is the second digit of your VIN F ?
MV - that makes sense .......... where you see the 04 - look if there is a letter code like B , C , D , ect That should be the build date - 04 being the day and the letter will be the month. I know I have seen BAG before but don't remember what it was.
"Buck Tag" Acornridgeman, Thanks for the prompt reply. No, the second digit of my Maverick's VIN is an "X' for the St. Thomas assembly plant I believe. VIN # 1X91F213680, Body Code 62A, Color Code P, Trim Code 2Y, Trans Code W, and Ford DSO Code 47 - Cincinnati Thanks again, Mike
