I want to put bigger wheels on the maverick very badly, and i was wondering how well late model mustang wheels fit and what would have to be done for them to clear. I have seen a couple of pics of mavs with cobra Rs on them and i like the way they look. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is a pic of the car in case u hadnt seen.
dunno :bananaman dude, the cragar's look great to me.....but bigger is better.....I have been told no more than 3" backspacing....I think the cobra R 17's have like 6", the spacers are cheap, but stacking them is not recommended.........anyways cool car.....Robert
This Mav. has 96 Mustang GT 17 inch wheels and 245/45x17 Goodyears. We are using 1 3/8 inch H&R Spacers all around. We actually heard it run today for the first time in a year.:bananaman
All the larger spacers I've seen bolt onto the hub and have their own studs in them. Someone posted a link a while back for some, I think they ran about 100 bucks a pair.
GrabberMav71, I don't mean to annoy you but I wanted to know what city you were from. ps Your car looks great! Runnum, your car looks awesome!
Ok, im looking at mustang wheels on ebay, if i were to buy the 17x8 or 17x9 wheels, and add some spacers they should fit fine? I will probly have to raise the car back up a bit because it is dropped 3 inches all around. Thanks
Thanks wardf. It's been a long time in the making. We are running about 6 months behind schedule on it. GrabberMav71, to be honest I am not sure if they are 8 or 9 inches wide. I will try to measure them tomorrow.
The wheels on the car now are 14x7s and about the tire size, that pic was taken about 2 or three months ago and since then new BFG Radial T/As have been put on. On the new tires, the rear size is 245/60R14 and I cant remember what size the fronts are but they are slightly thinner than the rears and a little bit shorter.
well, i just accedentally picked up a set of cobra Rs for 345 dollars. brand new. was that a good deal?
