    $69 remanufactured Cardone

    $519 new MOPAR

    The price says REMAN!!!

But can I trust it, or do I get what I pay for?

Check these prices before you buy Scott.

    http://www.rockauto.com/

Hope it comes up, if it comes up the main page, just look it up in the index....

Edit: It comes up to the main page, so you will have to look it up. Prices even with shipping are much better. I'd go with the AC Delco reman, heard lots of bad talk about Cardone reman stuff....

Not sure. Wife was driving it yesterday, I am in Yuma AZ with my parents for my mom's birthday.

She called and said the steering froze up, and then the truck bogged down and stalled. She tried to start it but it was turning over slowly.

Sounds like the pulley froze on the PS pump, but I don't know for sure until I get home and check it out.

So, looking at parts and prices now, so i know where to buy.

Is it possible that the truck died first? That would explain the steering stiffening up..

No, she said that she could turn it over, but it was slow and struggling, but would start if she gave it a little gas. She let it stay dead to minimize damage.

She actually lost steering, and had to force it through the remainder of the turn and into the parking lot to wait for the tow truck.

Sounds like the pulley is frozen, dragging the serpentine belt when it tries to start.

I will pop off the belt, verify it is frozen, and replace it and the belt and hopefully be back on the road.

ACDELCO Part # 36717157 $86 + 40 core. Good price. I can live with that.

I will look at other stores, like NAPA and see if I can get it locally. I need this back on the road ASAP so we aren't car-pooling for too long. When we car-pool, I am the one who has to leave work early, and change my schedule around to accommodate the wife's work schedule.

It could, but she realized that it was dragging (felt it bogging) and just kept it running long enough to get the truck off the road to a safe place in a parking lot then turned it off.

Unlike many women, she realizes that if it ain't running right, turn it off ASAP to prevent further damaging stuff.

Congrats on teaching her Scott! I have drilled that into my wife's head also. :Handshake Much better that way than driving one into the ground over a simple fix!

Scott the pumps are notorious for failing on the dodges...Cant remmber how many I have replaced at work. But...I would make certain first...Pull the belt and hand turn all the accessory pulleys first...Alternators will do this to ya...(they generally make noise first though) I have seen frozen alts keep an engine from turning over as well as bogging an engine down.
Bought an olds W-30 like that years ago...Guy figured the engine was seized...Got it dirt cheap too...Shoulda seen his face an hour later as I did a big smokey past his house in second gear with the car...LOL...Good luck!!!

Tomorrow afternoon, I will pull the belt and check it all out.

Alternator is new, maybe 4 months old, and didn't lock up, but I heard the bearings in the pulley start to make noise and swapped it out before it froze,

And, I am not complaining. I have 248,000 miles on it with few issues. I expect things to break around this time. I expected A/C to have died years ago, but still blowing cold.

    It was the IAT sensor.

Easy to figure out once I got my hands on the truck.

$13 and back on the road.

Interestingly, no error code, but that is the most common source of this behavior. It would not idle, or stay running without giving it throttle. Nothing to do with the drive belt or accessories.
