I have a 1971 maverick with a 302 and a aod trans. The trans is gone but i do have a fmx trans i got from doing some trading. i have everything i need but the yoke that goes into the back of the fmx is the big 32 spline. The yoke i have on my current driveshaft is the small one so i took it off to install the fmx yoke but the u-joints seem like they are 2 wide to get both the c clips on and it almost looks like the cups are a smaller diameter? Is there a certain u-joint I need to make this work? It looks like the fmx yoke was one that had the nylon stuff holding the u-joints in and u have to heat em up to get them off? The groove doesnt look as close to the outsides as my small yoke where the c clips go. Any and all help would be appreciated!! Sorry so long winded just trying to get all the details in.
The FMX used a 31 spline yoke, same as a C6. There are combination U joints to mate just about any size jointed shafts to any yoke.
Thanks baddad457 for the info. I havent had any dealings with u-joints before other than taking them off and putting them on. Never had to buy any before. I guess i will do some measuring. If I cant figure out what i need I can always take it to a shop that does driveshafts. But ya thanks again bud!
