    Has anyone ever seen these in a Maverick before? I've seen several '72's but they didn't have these belts.

    I have seen them on my parts cars. Every once in a while somebody will email me looking for that belt. The were very prone to breaking.

    I have never seen the design on the button before...that is different.

    Here are all the styles of belts I have seen:

    It makes you wonder how safe they are when the plastic around the release button cracks and lets the button fall out!

    I was looking for a front seat buckle and strap (16" from end of buckle to bolt hole) like that with the same size latch. I think they are unique in size (width) though.

    Seatbelt life

    HI,
    Anyone out there have any idea of the life of the
    belts in the Mavericks? My 74 has original belts;
    however, I wonder how safe they are in case of an
    accident.
    Is this (30 years later) a good time to get replacements? Is there
    a generic type that will fit?

    Those are the exact ones my '72 has! I assumed everyone had them, but guess not! Mine still work fine.

    Yes, at least from my observations, the one pictured 3rd from the left in Craig's picture above is more common. My other two '72's have those, so when I picked up this car last week with a different buckle, I was surprised.

    I've seen that symbol before, on a door panel in a late 70's comet
