need help in finding correct color code for 73 comet gt

    i have a 1973 comet gt that the previous owner had painted a different color. they painted over the plate that has all the codes and stuff. i want to go to original paint. the vin# is 3k31f520120. if any one could help i would appreciate it. the prev. owner said it was a medium blue met. before he painted it

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    Look inside the trunk, under the carpet, in the door jambs, etc. and try to find the original color.

    Also, you could take some fine grit sandpaper and carefully go over the plate until you can read the code. You might also try and find the build sheet.

    I hate it when people paint over this stuff. Like 71GTComet said, you should be able to get the paint off of the sticker if you're careful. Once you do, not only will you be able to read the colour code, but you should be able to see the original paint colour under the clear laminate of the sticker around it's perimeter.
