Does anybody have any recommendations on Waterless Coolants? Pro's, con's etc... I realize it's pricey but I've been doing some research on the topic and I'd like to see what you all thought.

3 things I know. For guys that never change their coolant every 2 years like you are supposed to, it is great stuff. As it never needs to be changed once installed unless it becomes contaminated with water or oil. You really need to switch to this when doing a complete restoration. When every part of the car, engine, hoses, radiator, heater core, are empty and contain zero water based coolant. If you just drain a working system you will not get all the old coolant out and even a little old stuff defeats the benefits of waterless. It is usually pet friendly and non-toxic which is great if your classic leaks a little on the garage floor .........
I watched a show on TV, where they had a conditioner that you ran thru the system before the complete swap. I like the idea of using it.
Kind of reminds me of snake oil, too good to be true. Always leery of lofty claims etc… If this stuff works as advertised I’d definitely want to give it a try. I’ve tried products like water wetter, and I “know” it works, I was able to watch the temp gauge drop.
I got sticker shock on the price as well but if you amortize the cost over time. The product would be significantly cheaper than normal coolants (if it works). I’m just having a hard time believing it will actually last a lifetime.
kevin, we switched the mustang that was in my shop over to the evans coolat. it was having a hard time managing the heat soak when and after it got into boost. we switched to the evans and it did seem to help. the car did blow a head gasket shortly after but that was because the original builder put economy gasket in it. we now have a better radiator fan assembly going in with the evans coolant and fully expect it to have no cooling issues. yes their is sticker shock but its a one time thing. we installed petcocks into the block coolant drains to be able to easily recover as much coolant as possible when ever the system needs to be drained. i would recommend doing that to any motor that will be using this coolant. its not a bad thing to do to all motors. it makes it easy to do a full drain and fill on the cooling system
I guess it would if your engine isnt drinking any coolant from bady/leaky gaskets or you have a leaky/blown hose/line another option vs regular coolant http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ.../antifreeze-and-engine-coolant/?code=ANT1G-EA
Thanks for all the input, it actually makes me feel a lot better about the product. When I’m closer to finishing my engine I’ll start shopping around. I’ve seen the twin turbo Mustang over at Bryant’s shop, that’s a serious power plant and if they have the confidence to run it, then I should have no problems or concerns whatsoever. I think maybe Dave B. and I saw the same show, Wheeler Dealers Triumph TR4 episode. They converted that little engine over and liked the logic they were using.
I just use the the modern yellow stuff and change it every 8-10 years, no issues here... If you don't drive over 2-3K mi a year, even the green is good for at least five years...
