My new long block year is 94/96 What timing cover do I need ? I want to run my std v-belt pullys... Can I put a late cover on and still run a early water pump ? I also need it to have the hole for the dip stick... I'm thinking a early cover will fit, but want to be sure...

Thanks frank, I should have looked first.. What is your opinion on the aftermarket replacements with the seal that gos in from the front instead of having to remove the cover for seal changes... the one from speedway motors looks like a nice piece for $70 bucks...

The early cover will fit your block. None of the 94-96 covers will work with a V belt FEAD, they were all (two covers used those years) reverse rotation covers with different pumps. The front install seal is nice, if you ever need to replace it, chances are you never will though. Now, using the early cover without the alignment dowels the later covers came with, you'll need to use an alignment tool (or just the balancer) leave the cover bolts loose to align the cover to insure the seal doesn't leak. You could though use an early 80's cover (also used on the Vic, Towncar/Marquis 5.0's til 91) these covers work with the V belt setups using a std rotation pump. Some lack the fuel pump boss or have the boss with the center hole closed. I used one like this on my 331 with a V belt FEAD.
