Sorry I have another stupid question to ask I have never ran a fuel cell before and the PO of my maverick had one in the trunk. The fuel cell is still there but nothing connected. I can see there is a hard line ran up from the rear of the car into the driver side fenderwell. So on the fuel cell on the bottom facing rear are to AN fittings. One is open and one is closed off. I'm assuming that fuel would be drawn from the open AN fitting there. What threw me through a loop is that on top of the fuel cell there appears to be a vent with a hard line that runs under the trunk of the car. I took a peak under the fuel cell and I see the hard line ran underneath and it has what looks like a white mounted fuel filter on it. I will take pics tomorrow if that would help. Figured there might be some fuel cell experts on here. Thanks guys.
I am in no way an expert, but I was looking at some fuel cells for my build and I was led to believe that the only thing on the top SHOULD be a vent, similar to the ones that in stock configuration run up to the charcoal canister. Id say its a safe bet (on my part at least without seeing it in person) that the white fuel filter serves a similar purpose.
I have run many fuel cells in stock cars and the top line running from the top of the cell to under the car is a vent - the white thing on the end sounds like a little filter to keep the dirt out - the AN fitting that this vent line is attached to on top of the cell might also be a roll over valve which would have a floating steel ball that slams shut if the car gets upside down preventing the fuel from coming out of the cell
If it`s a drag car the IHRA & NHRA make you run the vent outside the car to keep the fumes out in case of a fire.
