sorry for posting up a lot on here about my probelms but yall have been so much help to me and I cant thank yall enough...well Ive been hearing chatter coming from my valve covers and so I decided to adjust them today..as I was adjust I opened up the valve cover I noticed that one of them had damage looking as if it was hitting the valve cover and the poly lock was almost fully out but still on tight...as I rotated the engine by hand I notice that it barely went down as well..so I had an extra roller rocker to see if it would help it but no dice..I took out the pushrod and it still fine..so my guess is that the lifter has seized up inside the block...just wondering if anyone has had this problem and would like someone to say yes before I tear it all apart thanks :tiphat:

If it were backed out and tight, had to be assembled that way...

Something is odd that's for sure as lifters only have approx .200 plunger travel... Any chance you have a odd pushrod that's too long??? Limited rocker movement would usually indicate a cam issue...

I had a buddy of mine adjust them like that..all the other poly locs were pretty flush with the nut it screws into except for one...and thats what my guess was too on the push rod but I checked the one next to it right now and its the same lentgh and found out its bent a bit :/ I have ran this engine a lot and im gonna be doing my 351w swap soon but need this one going for atleast 4 more months and its a daily driver too

and rod lentgh is 6.876 too on it part # mpr-281

Well that's the correct length for a flat tappet cam... Ones for factory roller are 1/2" shorter...

Is it hitting the valve cover, or the oil baffle inside the cover ?

looking to see where its hitting inside the valve cover and I see no damage inside of it at all :/

also it was the lifter its was rounded out and measuring the old one at 1.875 and the new one at 2 inches tall...also are the lifters supposed to be easy to push in? at first it was hard to push in but now I tossed in the new one and started to adjust it to 0 lash once I locked the poly loc and rotated the engine again to make sure the valve is opening up but its not even moving now..so I took out the new lifter and it feels very easy to push in now..Im guessing worn cam lobe?

also are the pushrods supposed to be easy to spin still but have resistance on them after locking the poly loc?

How did the old lifter look where it sits on the cam? Is it flat or is it concave? if its concave you probably have a wiped out cam lobe. I just went thru this with a late 70's Dodge motor. Cam was completely wiped out.

Yeah thats no good. Wiped out cam lobe for sure. You will be doing some engine work.
