Right now it is just stuffed between the carpet and package try. I guess you can call it an interference fit. It doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. If it starts acting like it needs to be nailed down ell brackets will be made to screw to the floor and sides of the console, but I don't see this needing to be done in the future...it's a tight fit now.

If you want to mount it as in a Pinto, keep an eye out for the floor bracket.
In the picture below you can see it just in front of the shifter hole. I can take better pictures later today if required.
You would need a spot rivet drill bit to remove it.

Picture is of another car I'm working on. Firewall & trans tunnel mods done in such a way as to keep the original heater (hey, I'm in northern Alberta !). Moved the 2.5" main wire harness hole up & to the left, so it doesn't come out behind the left head/valve cover. Lots of finish work to do next summer: it's in storage right now.

My first car was a 72 Pinto. Drove it home & pulled the whole drive train....replaced with 302w, FMX with 3k stall & a Mustang diff.

Second car was a 72 Pinto as well:

Third one was a Wagon for another fellow.

Had a 76 from new for a while.

    Now have three more !

Plus the addition of Mercury Bobcat tail lights, a common addition to the Maverick :)

Does anyone else picture in their mind what T.L. would be doing right now :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

    Actually, not BC lights.

First one got squished between two full sized cars & shortened 3'. Didn't blow up ! :rofl2:

Body guy thought it was "funny" to install a couple extra Pinto lights. :16suspect

When I mounted the console in Jeffs car, It is wedged so tightly between the floor and package tray that no bracket is needed. It is truly a tight fit, however I supposed if he were in a 45+ mph crash, it would move.... even so, I don't think it would bruise his or a passengers leg..?
