I know this has probably been asked before but I cannot find a definitive answer. My hinges are in sorry need of replacement. Is there a suitable aftermarket available or is there a repair procedure for replacing the rivets? There seem to be some beautiful billet style Mustang hinges but can't find any Maverick. Thanks
i places my hinges down on my anvil and wacked the factory rivits very hard with a 4LB hammer...tightened them right up..then blasted and painted them. and those other hinges you speak of..i believe they VERY expensive..unless you got a serious show car i doubt you would be interested in them.
I talked to a couple of owners with the fancy hood hinges and they hate them. Both claim they can't adjust the hood lines to look right. One guy had a 55 Nomad the other a 66 Mustang
the factory rivets have a...split face...I take a chisel and hammer to tighten them up. I know a Guy that bought NOS hinges. I told him he could take his "old worn out" ones, hit the rivets with a hammer and they would be as tight as the new ones..
