They are shorter, and a car that has never had the glass replaced, should have 2 green clips, in each upper corner, it holds the trim tighter .

Don't think I have ever found green clips on a Maverick. Always yellow. Occasionally brown.

Could be another reason why I lost one of my trim pieces...

    These Windshield Clippies are confusing...

...except....to keep it simple...from everything I've read on here: Use the Bright Yellow ones....they work better.

I read through several threads with the search function, and compared info, part numbers, and Vendors...
...and I drew up this Comparison chart based on that:

    maverick_windshield_clips_comparisons_original.jpg

And from personal experience...I have only seen the yellow ones...
...but wasn't looking that close to see color and style differences.

Is there are reason the OEM clips are better than the aftermarket clips?

I used a screw driver, and patients. Never bent, or ruined any trim.

The 2 clips on the left in this picture Dave posted awhile back, are aftermarket ones. They are thinner so they do not have the holding power of a factory clip. And the squared edges make them a bit harder to use. The factory round edge ones are the best if you can get them. Notice the center brown clip is a bit shorter.

I too have never found green clips on my cars - just brown and yellow.

It is amazing how many NOS clips I find.....under the carpet of a car I am parting out. Seems they drop a few during assembly.

I'm even more amazed at the volume of cars you must be parting out just to find all those clips. :bouncy:

    Don't worry, she knows......(y)

The aftermarket clips are crap! They collapse when you try to install the trim, with little pressure.

    Green ones.

This is the first time I have ever seen them...

Before I send some of the Bright Yellow ones off to Tom (Cruzin Illusion), I thought I'd throw a couple of pictures up here,
because Gene's thread has turned into another interesting one, in the endless threads about these Windshield clips.

I carefully removed a few tonight, ALL from Mavericks, and found 3 types: Factory Bright Yellow, Faded Green ones
(they look even greener in the bright sun, and my guess is they are aftermarket), and 2 aftermarket Yellow ones.
(All 3 types are physically different) I was hoping to spot a brown one, but I didn't see one.

    Thickness:
Factory Bright Yellow: .0325 Inch (32.5 thousands)
Aftermarket Yellow: .0250 Inch (25 thousands)
    Green: .0250 Inch (25 thousands)

(*I faced them differently in each row, for reference)

The below diagrams with notes, are Courtesy of Darren:

    Factory clip
A=part of clip that holds trim. notice the 45degree angle.
    B=snaps on to body pin
C=The trim as it slides down the angle and opens the clip.

A=the angled edge that the trim pushes away from the body then snaps over the trim edge.
    B=snap on to body pin

    Aftermarket clip
The flat edge at position (A) is what the trim hits. Not even close.

And here are some Red and Black ones that David (predfan2001) posted in another thread:

(*from a 1970 Maverick. Not positive whether they're Factory or Aftermarket)
