Would I need for an H7 headlight bulb? I saw the tech article on headlight upgrade but I want to go a different route, putting an H7 bulb directly into a 7" sealed beam light from a Maverick, I have access to getting any size hole cut I need but can't find out the hole size to get cut, got quite a few old sealed beams laying around and want to try it.

Interesting but I believe there is a focal point(depth of bulb), in the housing for best light output... Also the silvering inside the bulb will discolor within a few months once air & humidity gets inside...

That's a interesting thread... Like someone commented, I ought to check out the tech articles more often but I sorta been busy with my own issues...

Assuming you get the housing sealed then the reflector should remain intact...

I converted a 7" sealed beam to H4 halogen on my 1982 FLH Harley a couple of years ago and just went out to compare the 7" lights on the Comet with my old original Harley light and they are identical. These lights were used in many vehicles including some Chevys in the 70's. There are many aftermarket 1970-1984 FLH options that would be a direct replacement. Also found this link with a little surfing... http://www.coolbulbs.com/H4_body.asp

I am just totally against the plastic housing/lenses that I have seen offered, they really are useless for seeing with, that "Diamond Cut" crap, I won't touch them, I want glass housings, I had the plastic ones and took them off after one night using them.
I do like those in the link Rasit!

I tried those plastic replacement housings, they looked crappy. Hella makes a decent looking upgrade.

The Harley options are glass. The also have heavy duty bulbs that can handle all the vibrations from a shovelhead. I can dig up a couple of links.....
