When I got the Comet the hoses looked like a bundle of snakes and was missing the lower part of the retainer bracket...

Sooo question is, just how is the pressure hose supposed to secured??? Does the hard part of the line fit through the retainer??? I'm guessing it does because I think there should be more slack between the cylinder and bracket... Still the metal line is smaller than the rubber retainer so isn't really secure... The crimp will fit nicely but the angle is then wrong, of course I don't have a issue with putting some curve in it if necessary...

BTW the new replacement pressure lines are same as what was on it, but I'm thinking these are originally for some other application???

I seem to recall where the two lines join each other is where the bracket mounts.

I can't contest to the originality of my p/s lines, but this is what they looked like when I pulled the original V8 engine out. Maybe it will help.

I believe you are correct, two Torino under engine P/S setups I have do same but those lines just have a coupler and no real amount of hard line to deal with...

    Thanks!

AFAIK the original lines used a metal spiral shield around the hoses to prevent chafing of the lines under the car, both of the original Torino setups I mentioned do have that feature... I'm still thinking these aftermarket hoses are a multi-usage and will never fit as Ford intended(at least without modification)...

    BTW

I pulled up the '65-'72 Master Parts Catalog and as best I can tell it shows a setup with rather short hard lines on the two hoses... The '71 Shop manual I have is useless as a guide...

    Thanks!!!!

That appears to be orig and is similar to what I see in the Master Parts Catalog... I'd have thought their'd be more slack in the lines to the valve but if there isn't a lot of hose, maybe there won't be much chafing...

Guess I'll wait till my engine is in place and act accordingly, got a feeling I'll be modifying mine...

    Dave I have a question...

Does the belly bar have a different crimp on the driver side vs the passenger?? Appears in the pict to be more sloped, while mine has the same crimp as your right side on either end... My hoses lay best in the middle where the least amount of clearance is between the bar and oil pan...

Your Hose Clamp/Bracket in post #1 looks like the Factory original one. Is it? or is it an aftermarket reproduction?

    Nice job by the way.

It's a orig 1968 part, robbed it from one of the Torino P/S setups I have(the second will be used on my 428CJ Fairlane next spring)...

Thanks for the props, appreciate it...

Apparently the hoses must squeeze between engine and LCA mount so route has to be something similar to this... I don't have the hose support in place but sure looks like with a different angle on the bracket, things would fit better...

Does this taste familiar to anyone???
