Would this get me from the shorties back to the X and to where I would stab in the mufflers, or is this based on a Mustang platform and not clear everything under a Maverick?

Application list says it fits all the 5.0 mustangs (not Coyote) with manual transmission. Would the C4 interfere?

How about the same kit but one made for a late 80s or early 90s 5.0 with auto?

I would like to get a clean kit like this, because I think I could do it better than a muffler guy bending up pipe from scratch.

Why not just take your car to a good local muffler shop and have a complete dual exhaust system installed properly? The money you've spent trying this & that; you could have been done already.

Because I have done this three times, now, and not impressed with any of the installations I have had from "muffler guys".

I think I can do it better myself.

I can use factory type hangers, and not just tack-weld the crap to the body or frame. I can make sure the pipes are horizontal to the driveshaft, and not just jammed in there any old way.

I can make the pieces come apart where I want them to for future repairs, ie. I can pull the back right and/or left 1/4 of the exhaust off if I need to get in there to fix or replace something above the exhaust. Muffler guys won't spend the time doing that unless they charge me a bunch extra.

And I can do it without lighting my car on fire like the first guy did.

THAT put me back a hefty chunk of change and time replacing wiring and linkages under the dash.

Plus, mandrel bent, not crinkle-bent like the muffler guys do.

Plus (since I just LOVE to experiment and try various things out)...I can use my super44s with a slip-on fit, and then try out different mufflers until I find what I like, just swapping out the last 24" of the setup each time. Or even keep 2 or 3 different setups and swap them out with the loosening of 2 bolts if I want it louder or quieter depending on the occasion.

I doubt anyone really knows but without shock towers and using Stang 5.0 headers, it could probably be made to work... The reason many say std only is the pipe on driver side interferes with the automatic shift linkage... I couldn't fit a X pipe I have on my T-Bird because of that very reason(H pipe fits fine)... I'm hoping a C4 is narrow enough that with some cutting maybe it could be made to fit with the Thorley headers I have...

Krazy...good point. I am NOT using stang headers. These are tight to fit the maverick. So they would probably not line up with the BBK kit. Without modification, which may not be out of the question.

So DAMN it! I will probably end up letting some hack-job muffler guy put some shoddy setup on my car. Again.

For custom work there is a guy about 3/4 miles from me that can rival the work you see on TV, if I can't do something with the pipe I have I'll take it to him...

I have a question out to the local mustang guys about a possible decent muffler guy on the east side of Houston...

Don't know if this helps or not but I used this kit in May. $250 shipped to my door. Fit very well, had to clearance the rear footwell and the fuel tank on my 75. You may want to use different mufflers. You would need to fab up to your shorties.

Check with a company called pypes.. I think one of our forum members works there... They have some good looking cross over pipes... Not sure they have anything for a mav/comet but worth a look...
